Taskforce Sirocco is the latest instalment of Operation Zephyr, our aid Convoys to Africa.
In September 2024 we hope to take 25 emergency vehicles to Gambia.
We've chosen Gambia again for a number of reasons. The first and biggest reason is due the impact our first expedition had. The second big reason is we learnt a lot from last years expedition and by doing the same one again we can compare the data and that will allow us to confidently plan expeditions anywhere!
As of the 30th August 2023 we have 81 volunteers for this expedition, the majority are from the UK but we also have volunteers from Australia, Iceland and the US! Our ESAC family has grown far and wide. We have 5 emergency vehicles, 4 fire engines and 1 ambulance with 3 of the engines having been donated by the amazing North Wales Fire and Rescue. But that's not all. Not only have North Wales Fire and Rescue donated 3 engines but they have also donated a rescue boat! This boat will replace a search and rescue boat tragically lost in a fire at a Gambian lifeboat station earlier this year.
Our storage is filling up fast with donations of medical aid and firefighting equipment. But we could always do with more! So if you have any or know anyone that does. Please get in touch.
Watch this space for further updates.
On the 29/05/2024 our container arrived in The Gambia. This container was full of fire fighting equipment, especially protective clothing! Medical equipment ranging from masks to Nebulisers.
So far our firefighting clothing has been distributed to fire stations all over the Gambia
Did you know that here at ESAC we will some times update and even create emergency vehicles?
As such we're always looking for lights and sirens, if you have any you wish to donate please get in touch!
This is our 2012 Ford Ranger, it came to us as a utilities vehicle, we've converted it and fitted blue lights and a siren to create a water rescue vehicle capable of responding to any emergency
This is our 2011 Mitsubishi L200 Brush vehicle. This is a pick up with a pump mounted in the back, which means its capable of fighting fires in places normal engines would be able to get too! Again we fitted this one with blue lights and a siren that were very generously donated to us by North Wales Police!
